Guitar Society Summit

We’re inspired and exhausted after the Guitar Society Summit–a conference of guitar societies and guitar presenting organizations in North America–which took place in Baltimore the weekend of September 29-October 1, 2023. It was a weekend filled with information that will help us serve our communities better.

We heard five outstanding speakers: Erin Donovan from rootED; Matt Hinsley from Austin Classical Guitar; Don Verdery from GAMI Simonds Visa; Adam Holofcener, Esq. from Maryland Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts; and Ken Skrzesz, former ex. dir. of the Maryland State Arts Council. We heard a wonderful concert Andrzej Grygier, 1st prize winner of the Baltimore International Guitar Competition who performed a special concert for BCGS donors and the 24 organizations represented in the conference. And, we had time to socialize and share stories.

Thank you all for making the time and trip to Baltimore, and most of all, thanks to the Augustine Foundation and the Peabody Conservatory for making this possible.

Asgerdur Sigurdardottir, president

Baltimore Classical Guitar Society, Inc.
