Beijing Guitar Duo THIS CONCERT ALREADY HAPPENED

“Interpretative skills and a cross-cultural flair that's incredibly rare for twentysomething musicians." (Baltimore magazine)

The impressive individual talents of Ms. Su and Ms. Wang come together to create what is sure to be one of the most exciting guitar duos on the scene today. Composed of Meng Su and Yameng Wang, the Beijing Guitar Duo first met at the Central Conservatory in Beijing, China, where they both studied with the acclaimed professor Chen Zhi. The Beijing Guitar Duo was formally established while pursuing their advanced studies at the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore, Maryland.

As recipients of the “Solomon H. Snyder Award,” the Beijing Guitar Duo made its New York debut at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall in 2010 with critical acclaim. Also in April 2010, they joined Manuel Barrueco at the Herbst Theater in San Francisco, in premiering Enchanted Island, a new guitar trio written for them by renowned guitarist and composer Sergio Assad.Other upcoming performances include recitals in China, Germany, Holland, Finland, Spain, and the United States.

Their first duo recording, “Maracaípe,” released on Tonar Music, received a Latin GRAMMY nomination for Maracaípe, a work written and dedicated to the Beijing Guitar Duo by Sérgio Assad. A second recording is scheduled to be released in October 2011.
